For Jack McNamara, coin collecting is more than just a hobby --- it runs in his blood. Jack’s great-great grandfather Charles Enders, Jr. was a coin dealer from New York City. At just five years old, he was introduced to the hobby of coin collecting with Lincoln wheatback pennies from his grandfather.
McNamara had a coin collecting album with spaces for cent pieces with different dates and mintmarks. He was introduced to the world of numismatics.
By the time Jack graduated from Rutgers University, coin collecting had become a hobby --- but nothing more. He had an eclectic collection that included colonial coins, especially those from New Jersey, where he grew up. While working at an insurance company, he realized he wanted to turn his hobby into a profession. He made a list of coins to sell and advertised them in “Coin World.”
McNamara was hired by Larry Stack, of the third-generation of coin sellers who founded Stack’s Auction House in New York, Jack organized the coins for auctions, wrote descriptions, helped acquire coins, traveled to pick up collections and more. At Stack’s, Jack handled one of the rarest coins he had ever seen. It was an 1894-S Barber Dime --- a million-dollar coin.
After working at Stack’s for 7 years, Jack saw an opportunity to work as a coin buyer in California. Shortly after that, he met Rick Tomaska and together started Rare Collectibles TV in 2014. Working with Private Advisory Coin Team collectors, Jack enjoys the hunt for rare numismatics.
He did not anticipate appearing on television. At first, he was nervous, awkward and uncomfortable. Today, McNamara has polished his presentation techniques and brings life to some of the rarest and finest coins seen on Rare Collectibles TV.
McNamara is a member of the Professional Numismatists Guild and a life member of the American Numismatic Association. He is a contributor to the Red Book of US Coins, “A Guide Book to United States Coins.”
A graduate of Rutgers University, he holds a B.A. in both Psychology and Sociology. McNamara is married and the father of a son and a daughter.

Prior to joining Mr Jeff, Stern was the SVP of Laundry Capital and Managing Director of Clean Ventures and he was owner/operator for many years of Great American Laundromat, one of the highest grossing laundromats in the NY Metro located in the Bronx.
